Brittany Murphy Death

Los Angeles police have opened an investigation into circumstances surrounding the death of actress Brittany Murphy.

Police have been dispatched to Cedars-Sinai and to the Los Angeles home where Murphy, 32, went into cardiac arrest earlier today. Police sources emphasized that their inquiry was preliminary, adding they could not say whether it would point to any criminal conduct. [Note: An earlier version of this post incorrectly said the house was located in West Hollywood.]

L.A. city firefighters responded to a call from the home in the 1800 block of Rising Glen Road. Murphy was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Born in Atlanta, Murphy moved to Burbank with her mother at age 13. Her film break came in the movie "Clueless" (1995), in which she starred opposite Alicia Silverstone.

Murphy has made dozens of other film appearances, including in "Girl Interrupted" (1999), "8 Mile" (2002), "The Dead Girl" (2006), and "Across the Hall" (2009). She also was featured as the voice of Luanne in the animated TV series "King of the Hill."

Murphy specialized in playing characters who were troubled teenagers or mentally disturbed, according to a biography on industry website Internet Movie Data Base.

Murphy was married in 2007 to British screenwriter Simon Monjack, the website said.

Lil Wayne murdered?

Some people just love making up stories on celebrtiy deaths that turn out to be untrue. The latest victim of these fake celebrity deaths is rapper Lil Wayne.

The reports state that the rapper is a victim of the notorious feud between “the Bloods And Crips.”

The reports also said, “shortly after performing at the New Orleans Arena, Lil Wayne was involved in an altercation with members of rival gang the ‘Crips’, and brutally shot 6 times with a semi automatic 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun. Paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the rapper, however were unable to prevent colossal blood losses and Dwayne Carter was pronounced dead at 02:36 Am, November 1st,shortly after arriving at Tulane University Hospital.”

The story was shocking enough to make its way to the the top Google search.

But for the record, there’s no truth to this. Lil Wayne is alive and well. Although plans for his anticipated clothing lines for both men and women are not in so good a condition, as they’re still on hold or canceled.

Celebrity Poker: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Hollywood celebrities across the globe have always loved the game of poker. As the current interest in poker surged, many famous names confessed their love of poker or discovered its thrills for the first time. On one hand, the classic glamour and current trendiness of poker goes hand-in-hand with headline-making and image-creating celebrity lives. From the Roaring 20’s to the Texas Hold’em game in Casino Royale, our culture has been drenched with the cards and chips. On the other hand, celebrities enjoy the anonymity of becoming just regular guys or gals while at the table.

Jennifer Love Hewitt showed up and play poker to support The Children’s Institute’s “Poker For A Cause” celebrity poker tournament on Saturday night last October 2009. Held at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California with other celebrities taking their seats at the poker table and dropping some cash for a good cause.

More than 20 celebrities supported and joined the notable celebrity poker tournament including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Kevin Nealon, Joely Fisher, Mekhi Phifer, Cheri Oteri, Mimi Rogers, Alison Sweeney, Jennie Garth , Nicolas Gonzales, Cheryl Hines, Ricki Lake Kevin Rahm.

About Jennifer Love Hewitt: Jennifer Love Hewitt started earning her living as a child entertainer.
